A Ritual Dish for the Four Elements
This hand-carved ceramic ritual dish is inspired by the ancient carvings of Gavrinis, France and Newgrange, Ireland, as well as the goddess culture described by Marija Gimbutas. It is a multi-part altar piece designed to anchor ritual practice in elemental balance.
• The dish: approx. 7.5 inches wide x 4 inches high.
• The vase: just under 2 inches tall.
• The bowl: approx. 1.5 inches in diameter.
• The candle holder: approx. 0.75 inches in diameter.

Hand-formed from dark clay, the piece is carved with ancient-inspired motifs and finished with rustic oatmeal glaze pooling into the carved designs, giving the impression of weathered stone relief.

Symbols of the Dish
The surface is carved with motifs drawn from Neolithic stone art:
• Spirals: cycles of life, death, rebirth; solar and cosmic rhythms.
• Net pattern: weaving, interconnection, and the great web of life.
• Diamond motifs: fertility symbols, seeds, and generative power.
• Wave-like arcs: water, flow, continuity.

Together, they echo a symbolic language used by early goddess-centered cultures to describe the relationship between earth, sky, body, and spirit.

The Four Elements in Ritual
This altar dish provides a place for each element to be represented:
• Earth — herbs, salt, or stone placed in the small bowl.
• Water — fresh water or flowers in the small vase.
• Fire — a flame kindled in the candle holder.
• Air — incense, feather, or breath offered on the surface of the dish.

By bringing the four elements together on a single vessel, this piece can be used to open ritual space, anchor meditation, or serve as a daily altar companion.

Handmade, One-of-a-Kind
Each piece is unique, hand-shaped and carved, carrying subtle variations that make it unlike any other. The combination of dark clay body and rustic glaze evokes both ancient stone and living earth, creating continuity between past and present ritual practice.

Symbolism Summary
